Menu Information For New Coffee Customers

Menu Information For New Coffee Customers

Below is some more information on what SelbySoft needs in order to proceed with your menu design.  We want this to go as smoothly as possible and to make sure that you have an easy to use system!

The best way to start is to fill out our Menu Form so we have some basic information.  You can access that here:

Below is more information on how a SelbySoft menu is structured.

Everything starts with the menu groups.  These are the main menu categories that define your system.  Menu groups include items such as Coffee, Pastries, Sandwiches etc.  Menu groups contain the rest of the menu and provide the overall categories for reporting.  Each menu group has a group size or sub-category.  For example:
  1. Menu Group - Coffee
    1. Size 8oz
    2. Size 12oz
    3. Size 16oz
    4. Size 20oz Iced
    5. Size 24oz Iced.

An example of sub-categories might be:
  1. Menu Group - Pastries
    1. Sub-Category - Bagles
    2. Sub-Category - Cookies
    3. Sub-Category - Muffins
    4. Sub-Category - Scones

Once we know the Menu Groups and Sizes, we will need to know what specialty items you currently have.  Specialties are the way we can create an item with a type of recipe for your staff.  These make it easier to place orders.  Some examples might be: A S'more coffee - That would contain Vanilla, Marshmallow and Chocolate flavors.  A food example would be a Bacon Chi ken with Ranch, Honey Mustard, Cheddar, Bacon and Chicken.

Specialties are what allow your employees to minus items off the menu.  Some examples are below:
Sandwich item - Note that all the STANDARD modifiers are listed in the sandwich.

After hitting MINUS and then Cheddar, you can now see it is gone.

Specialties also support a special item called Forced Modifiers. These special modifiers "force" the employee to make a choice.  These are great for up selling and for making sure the employee asked all the questions.

In this example, you can see that the employee has to select X-Shot or No X-Shot.

Modifiers are the last step to the basic menu design.  Modifiers are the flavors, instructions or items that modify the original menu item.  For example, your flavors or sandwich items. We support unlimited modifiers per Menu Group.  These can be categorized as seen in the next couple pictures:
